Project 365: Day 60-61: Snow And Noms
Catching up with Project 365.. the weather was aaall over the place: lots of snow one day and sunny and hot the next. Day 60 had a slightly snowy day and the kids outside tried to make some snowmen. I applaud their determination!
Chugging along on Day 61 with more sketching and working on the shop. I made some steamed eggs with some century eggs inside.. an aquired taste but a staple in this house (: If you’ve never tried Chinese steamed eggs before, you should! There are recipes around online and it’s very simple. I also made some simple (and tasty!) rice with ground beef and veggies. For some reason I still can’t get the steamed eggs as perfect as my mom makes them. Sigh. One day, one day.
Project 365: Day 45-46: Snowbunny Survivor and Rice Krispie Squares
Project 365 is HARD! Especially when you’re basically a hermit crab like I am. Sometimes it’s hard to think of find things to photograph.. or if you are like me, you might kinda forget to take a photograph until it’s late at night and all your lovely natural light is gone so all you can do is take some really crappy looking pics with crappy lighting *breathe*..
But I digress.
This has been a fun challenge. The weather has constantly been flip-flopping, and I was amazed that the snow bunny was still chugging along on Day 45. (Do you see the tiny bit of it that’s still alive?) Note that we originally made this guy back on Day 22.. there’s something in that Canadian snow, I tell you!
Day 46 was a nice cooking in day.. we had got this box of Rice Krispies for free, and to be honest, I don’t like Rice Krispies for breakfast unless I mix it up with at least 3 other kinds of cereal (truly, cereal is not awesome unless you mix together at least 3-4 different kinds. Omnomnom..) But I picked up a bag of mini marshmallows and made some Rice Krispie Squares. I used lots of extra marshmallows and didn’t actually pack the cereal down before cooling; so we ended up with extra gooey, chewy, light squares. Yummm.
Project 365: Day 37- 44, Food, Drink, Television.. Gluttony at its Finest?
(Editing and reposting this entry because some of the photos were flubbed around.)
Project 365 still chugging along.. the weather in Toronto’s been beyond strange. One day, tons of snow. The next day.. all the snow melts. Rinse and repeat. Our snowbunny was STILL chugging along on Day 37. I could not believe it. Plus it was the only spot of snow left in the entire backyard. I feel like such a proud snowbunny mom :’)
We went to see Chronicle in the theatre on Day 38. We both actually really enjoyed the film. It was entertaining, funny, and dark at the same time. But man, those boys were excellent at wasting such awesome powers! Before the flick, I picked up this super cute puzzle at Wallymart because 1, it looks just like my boyfriend’s cat Boo, and 2, it was only $5.. score!
Day 39 was dinner at Duff’s. It was my boyfriend’s first time there and he had to try their Armageddon sauce.. now my boyfriend LOVES spicy food, even more than me and he said it was the spiciest thing he ever had. So if you’ve got a Duff’s around you, you definitely need to try it!)
We went to Jam Cafe for Winterlicious on Day 40 and had this lovely wine. Some of the courses were kinda less than stellar but it was still an enjoyable evening. Day 41 was my mom’s birthday and we had an relaxing night in, picked up lots of sushi, some roasted chicken (Costco love here) and garlic bread. The sushi was delicious (: I am a sucker for sushi.
Day 42 was another Wine & Cheese get-together. My boyfriend and I were surrounded by everyone’s baby girls; it was fantastic! We tried to get a little drawing going with one of the girls but it ended up with just me and him drawing instead. This is what came out from that night. I would tell you what we tried to draw during this strange drawing session but I can’t remember for the life of me. Looks like we kept writing out who sucked more but I don’t know who won that one.
I’m a Sanctuary noob; so my boyfriend got me started on it and I gotta admit it’s pretty cool – AND Canadian. Bonus. I’m not far into this series but it’s been pretty interesting so far. I really enjoy that it’s almost entirely filmed in front of a green screen and that sets are created in CG instead of being built. When you get involved in the story, you almost forget that everything you see is CG anyway.
Day 44 was a day we went out for Chinese high tea: a late afternoon meal where certain Chinese restaurants list a special menu at great prices. The dishes usually include free drinks and/or soup. I tend to take a lot of food photographs – it probably seems like I eat out all the time! But I really don’t; I swear! But this day, I decided to take a shot of our little bobbley head rabbit at the front of the car. We got her because she reminded me of my old bunny Lucy and the head sways back and forth to munch on the giant carrot.. I love it (:
Project 365: Day 24-27 – Niagara Falls Wine Tour
A little while back, I found an awesome deal on one of the Niagara Falls wine tours. I had never been on a wine tour and couldn’t pass up the opportunity; so near the end of January, with my boyfriend visiting, the two of us went on a trip to Niagara Falls.
We had been there a few years ago on another little trip together and had a lot of fun; so this was a great second time for us. Though we were not feeling great and got more sick during the trip (figures!), we ended up spending a lot of time inside, lazing around in our hotel. But hey, nothing wrong with a little room service, jacuzzi and the hotel’s pool/sauna, right? (:
The wine tour was fantastic, by the way. No surprise that we were the youngest couple there, but everyone was nice and our driver/tour guide was so incredibly entertaining, charming and fun. We visited 4 different wineries as well as a chocolate factory.. and I can’t help it but I have to write about the chocolate factory first, because man, oh man, was that chocolate factory dangerous. I was.. finally.. that greedy fat kid let loose in a candy store. They had free samples. Let me say that again.. FREE. SAMPLES. What would you do if there were dozens of open containers of all kinds of chocolate covered goodies, and you were told that you can try as many different ones as you wanted? Any inclination to eat healthier or in moderation that I had.. FLEW out that chocolatey smelling window! I swear I ate the most chocolate out of ANYONE on that tour. (I guess older couples just aren’t that into chocolate??) The chocolate covered jujubes totally did me over near the end, ohmygosh. I swear I had sugar and chocolate in my veins for days afterwards.
No regrets!!
Oh, and yeah, those wineries. They were lovely too!
The two of us had a lot of fun on the tour, trying different wines and enjoying the experience. Though to be completely honest, I would not have gone on that tour had we paid the full price. It wouldn’t have felt like it was worth it. But if you can find any kind of deal on this sort of tour, you should definitely go for it because we had a lot of fun, and bought a lot of wine (and chocolate) as seen in that pic above.
It was still a great trip down. We spent more than we originally planned (whoops!) but it was worth it (:
And then of course, we come back home to be greeted by our little friend that was still trying to trudge along!
Revamping, Plus Project 365: Day 22 and 23 – Snow!
We had such a mild winter this year.. and I think it’s over already! But that’s okay; I’m so happy there’s been more sun the past while. I’ve been waiting for great sunny days again to retake some photographs and pretty up the Etsy shop.. something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. Taking these photos is probably one of my least favourite things to do sometimes, but today has been great since it’s a sign that winter is going to end!

Day 22 - Snowbunny!
Catching up with Project 365. With my boyfriend visiting last month, we were patiently waiting for a good snow day so we could build a snowman! That particular day was perfect; so we bundled up (or rather, I bundled up and he just threw on a hoodie because he’s like freaking Iceman and the cold has like zero effect on him, sigh) and headed out to the backyard to build an awesome snowman. It went from a lumpy unidentifiable pile of snow to an awesome snowbunny. Some small twigs for whiskers and two button eyes and our snowbunny was super silly and super cute (:

Day 23 - Fluffay!
On day 23 we were at the mall and I picked up this amazingly huge and fluffy pair of earmuffs. They’re massive and loud and totally suited my quirkiness. Best purchase ever (:
